Barge Beach Budapest (website mostly in Hungarian)
An interesting solution to the lack of access to public beaches along the Danube river.
Cruise down the Danube on a floating beach. There is an unusual addition to the capital’s bathing scene: a floating beach on the Danube river, right in the city centre. The “beach” is actually a wooden-decked platform built onto old barges of the type that haul cargoes of coal and stone up and down the Danube. It has an area of 2100 square metres, larger than six tennis courts, with a 16-metre swimming pool, a coffe bar sand pits and a childrens’ paddling pool and sun loungers.
